Justin Bieber: The Latest Celebrity PsychoDrama

Justin Bieber is a kid from Canada who attracted international attention when he posted videos of himself singing on YouTube. Apparently some music industry execs liked what they heard and signed Bieber to a recording contract. Talented? Who knows? Lucky? That’s for sure!

Today he’s idolized by teeny boppers, makes records, tours, and is livin’ the good life. Well, he was until last week.

In the latest celebrity psychodrama, Bieber is “it” and the media can’t get enough of this story. He’s pulling more newsprint than the revelation that Jessica Simpson has cellulite!

What we know for sure is that there’s a 20–year-old California girl, Mariah Yeater, who has filed a law suit alleging that Bieber is the father of her 4-month old son, Trystan. The alleged point of conception was a backstage bathroom at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles where Bieber and Miss Yeater enjoyed 30 seconds of coitus after a Bieber concert.

That, of course, is more than enough to justify a media explosion, which has been raging over the last week. Every possible angle of this story has been milked for every last drop of scandal.

We now know that Miss Yeater has been a victim of death threats and that her mother allegedly pulled the same stunt when Miss Yeater’s younger brother was conceived. Did you know that Miss Yeater will be the cover girl on the next issue of tabloid Star Magazine and that her first television interview was on the prestigious program “The Insider”? Didn’t Bill O’Reilly host that show a long time ago?

But there’s more. Apparently, Miss Yeater originally accused her boyfriend of being the child’s father and she ended up with an assault charge for slapping him during their heated discussion on paternity. Semi-nude photos have also surfaced of Miss Yeater, a sure-fire way for her to get her own reality TV show, just like Kim and Paris.

So why does anybody care? It’s because celebrities are supposed to be rich, famous and happy, but by lapping up every detail of their lives we know some of them are bankrupt, have had multiple divorces, don’t speak to any of their family members and can be just as unhappy as you or me.

It feels good to know that money really doesn’t buy happiness, even though we really wish we were them.

  1. What I find sad is that women in this day in age become famous and media sensations for sleeping with someone else who is famous (or quasi famous) and then talking about it. 30 seconds, truth or lie, is all it takes to have your own moment of fame. No talent necessary just the ability to put out or pretend you did.

If the sexual tryst results in a child you may even hit the jackpot in your ability to extort money for the rest of your life. Why work when getting lucky can truly mean getting a lifetime pass to an easy life.

  2. The whole story and the context is a sad commentary about our culture, and the emergence of mooching freeloaders who are quick to exploit someone else. I don’t think this is the ‘culture’ that our soldiers died for, as we remember them also this week, who are the definitive opposite of this story -they gave all for others. Usually such a legal scenario for a young ‘mother-opportunist’, has an aggressive grandmother manipulating mother and child from the background…we will see. This story is not going to end well.

  3. Amazing blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own blog soon. Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any recommendations? Cheers!
