Off With His Head!

What was he thinking? A loose-lipped Anglican Bishop in Britain was all too frank on his Facebook page when he commented that Prince William and Kate Middleton’s upcoming marriage would likely not last more than seven years.

But that’s not all. Pete Broadbent, Bishop of Willesden also wrote that “there are broken marriages and philanderers throughout these people”, no doubt referring to royals generally, and he called them “shallow celebrities”.

A northwest London newspaper pounced on the story and the Bishop has been groveling since.
Do you think the Bishop was stupid enough to believe that his private thoughts on Facebook would remain between him and his friends?

He should count himself lucky that he didn’t take on the Thai royal family. Last year Australian author Harry Nicolaides was sentenced to three years by a Bangkok Court for “insulting” Thai royalty in his book “Verisimilitude”. He could have received a prison term of up to 15 years.

And to think his 2005 book “Verisimilitude”, had a print run of fifty and he only sold ten copies!

  1. I can’t help but think about my own communications on facebook and other sites. With the advent of technology, one should consider a character akin to sweet potatoe rather than the layers of onion skin.

If we wouldn’t comment to one person perhaps we shouldn’t comment to any bringing new meaning to “if you can’t say somethin’ nice…”
