The unfolding divorce saga of wrestling entertainer, Hulk Hogan, aka Terry Bollea, has taken an unexpected turn.
After several years of accusations and recriminations, Hogan finalized the divorce matters with his wife Linda Bollea in 2008. It was recently reported that Ms. Bollea received 70% of the liquid family assets.
That should have been the end of it, right? Wrong. After two reality shows with Hulk and her children, Ms. Bollea still seeks to extend her fifteen minutes of fame, recently publishing her memoirs, entitled “Wrestling the Hulk: My Life Against the Ropes”.
In her book she writes about the physical, mental, and emotional abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband:
“He tore my clothes, threw lamps, and held me down on the bed with his hands around my throat during arguments…I was always afraid he was going to kill me in one of his rages.”
During a recent radio interview promoting her book Ms. Bollea also accused her former spouse of cheating on her with Hulk’s good friend and fellow wrestler, Brutus Beefcake.
Hulk’s lawyer, Will Florin has filed a lawsuit on his behalf alleging that Ms. Bollea’s claims are defamatory and have exposed him to “distrust, hatred, contempt and ridicule.”
This case seems to be another celebrity divorce where one or both of the parties cannot just walk away, but continue to fuel the divorce fires.
Their children, Brooke age 23, and Nick age 21, have already suffered from the emotional fall-out. Brooke, would-be actress and singer, has taken to flaunting her orange-tanned, scantily clad body in front of every camera she comes across, while Nick served eight months for felony reckless driving causing bodily harm. The passenger in the car he was driving will require 24-hour care for the rest of his life.
With the amount of vitriolic that accompanied the divorce claim, it surprises me that Hulk did not negotiate a confidentiality clause specifically dealing with the accusations now being leveled against him.
It appears that the thirst for fame outweighs any common sense for this once happily married couple. The “Hulkster” chalks it up to his ex-wife wanting to resurrect her flagging reality TV career.
